English Language Challenges

Hello everyone! 

This is my last post for the course of English, I finish all my English courses this semester, so is probably that I'll do not continue with the blog, but it was a good experience to do it, I had fun writing each blog post and I think that is a good form to improve the writing and learn new vocabulary. 

I have three English courses in the university, and I think they have been good, I improved my writing and pronunciation, but I have to improve my auditory ability, but I only can improve if I continue to practice, for example, try to translate the lyrics in English just by listening to them or talking to other people. 

I think the activities was funny, although I do not like to make exhibitions, but the blog and the videos was very interesting to do they, especially for the subjects, because were very diverse 

Outside the English class, I do not use English much, except when I have to read English literature for the university (although often the anthropological texts are very complicated by its specific vocabulary) or when I listen to music (many of the artists I listen, sing in English, such as my favorite band 30 seconds to Mars)
I do not know what will happen with my English studies, but is very necessary that I continue learning,  because the most of the archaeological literature is in English and although I am not interested in the academy, many magazines así to publish in English and in this country is important that the archeologists make scientific research and publish the results.
So, that is all, it was a pleasure write this blog. 

Changes to my study programme

Hello everyone!
today I will talk about changes that I want to do to my study programme.
In general I like my career and its curriculum, but I thinks there are many things that can to get better.
An example that is the curriculum of the basic cycle, because I think that is too long (two years), and, although it serves so that those who have not chosen a mention can do it, it is too much for those who already know to what area they want to dedicate or study,  besides I think that the basic cycle is more oriented to the social anthropology and lack physical anthropology and archaeology courses.

On the other hand, I think  most of classes are just theory and we need put into practice what we know, and in that sense, take advantage of the laboratories that exist in the university and the excursions to different places such as a museums, archaeological sites or ethnography works.

Respect to teachers and their teaching methodologies, I think that they have to be more didactic, because not all students accommodate standardized tests, and for some courses the academic load must be level or reduced, because in courses such as anthropology III or prehistory II, the amount of readings is too much and in some cases the requirement of the evaluations is very high (especially in prehistory II). but although for this situations exist the teacher survey and the qualitative evaluation of teachers, I think this evaluations many time are not considered and the situation does not change.
despite all of the above, the career is good, but there are things to improve.

Summer holidays

Hello everyone!
Today I'll talk about summer holidays.
I don't know what I'll do this summer, but I only want to come it soon and my classes in the university finish, because I am very tired and I want time to do something that I like such as play volleyball with my friends or read my favorite books (thing that I can't when I am in the university).
Maybe in this summer with my dad, his couple Ester and my twin sister we will go to the beach the Tabo or Tabito for some days or maybe the one weekend, beautiful and quiet beaches that I've known it since I was a girl when we spent the holidays with my uncles. I always have fun when I go there.

I think that the most of the time I'll be in Santiago, in my home, with my boyfriend (I will have more time to see him and in the summer holidays is also on Valentine' days an excuse to celebrate and surprise my boyfriend with a gift or go somewhere), my mom and brothers or with some of my friends, and maybe we will go to the cinema to watch some movies, the pool, museums or we'll go to a park, such as O'Higgins park or the park in Quinta Normal, or maybe I'm going to stay for a few days at my cousin's house.  In Santiago also are many things that we can to do.

My favorite myth

Hello everyone :)
Today I will talk about one myth that I like: Persephone and the origin of the spring.
I've always liked Greek mythology, for me is very interesting, although I also like other mythologies such as Egyptian, Celtic, Nordic or American as Mayan mythology or Chilean, but what I like most are the Greek myths, where the gods are more humans and also is the one I know the most.
The goddess Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter and the wife of Hades, god of the underworld. 

The myth tells that while Persephone collected flowers one day she was abducted by Hades, who fell in love for her and made her his wife. Then, Demeter traveled the Earth looking for her, and the flowers withered and the Earth became sterile.
Zeus intervened and ruled that Persephone would spent a certain amount of months a year with his mother (then the spring came and the earth came back to bloom) and the rest in the underworld with Hades as the goddess of hell.
I like this myth, but I like more how characterizes the character of Hades and Persephone Sherrilyn Kenyon in her books saga "Dark Hunters", where she tells romance and science fiction stories  about mortals and Greek gods and gods of other civilizations in the world today.
I recommend her books, they are very interesting and funny.

Post graduate studies

Hello everyone!
Today I will talk about post graduate studies.
I think that today is necessary have post graduate studies, but sometimes the people do not have the possibility to do it.
I still do not know if I'll do some post graduate course, but I want to do one in Chile or abroad, but that depends of the course and  where is better to do it or it is easier to develop.
I would like to do courses about heritage or maybe marine archaeology, because this are my favorite subject, but I have to search information yet about the courses that have the universities in Chile or abroad.
I would like to do some course abroad, especially of the marine archaeology in universities such as Cadiz in Spain, where the language would not be a problem or in  Denmark, and although there are course in Chile such as in the university Andres Bello, I think that is better to study in other countries where this kind of specialty is more developed.
I do not if I'll have to the possibility of to do a post graduate course in the future, but there are still several years to finish my career and think in that. however, I do not rule out the possibility of doing so no matter where.

My future job

Hi everyone!
Today I will talk about  my future job.
I always interested in the history and the mysteries of the past as the origin of the great civilizations or cultures, because I think that there are many things in our past that are awesome and can to explain important thing about our present.
I decided to study archaeologist when I was in the high school, I can not imagine me study or work in other thing, because I interested in the past cultures, and the Archaeology gives me the possibility to know more about these,  travel to different places and the most important, working outdoors.

I don't know in what specialty I would like to work yet, and Archaeology has many possibilities of work as patrimonial diffusion, environmental advice, conservation, investigation, work in museums, marine archaeology and others.

Although I'm not sure about what culture area (north, south, central or southern zone) I would like to study, I hope to work like environmental advice or work in conservation in some museum, I don't really like the investigation area in general, but I'm interested in doing research in marine archaeology, because I think that this area can gives us a lot of new information and a different kind of knowledge about the past.

TV series I'am obsessed with...

Hi everyone!
today I will talk about TV series that I like very much.
I don't say that I obsessed with some TV series, but in this moment I hope it goes the second season of two of my favorite series, one of them is Shadow Hunters and the other is Digimon Adventure Tri (anime series).
I began to see Shadow Hunters because this series is based in a books saga of science- fiction that included very different kind of myths, with the same name that I read some years ago and I loved it.

The other series is Digimon Adventure Tri, the second part of the Digimon Adventure, one Japanese amine series that I saw when I was a girl,
I love this series because remember me my childhood, I began see it when I was in preschool and I saw it again very years after. I think that I saw this series as four or five times because of returning to repeat the series in several TV channels and I never got bored of see.

Although I like many other series too, especially anime series as Inuyasha or Nube, I hope that second season of this series out soon.

Pets

Hello everyone!
Today I will talk about my pets.
I have had pets all my live and I believe that I can't live without  animals with me.
Currently,  I have two beautiful dogs, one cat and two hedgehogs very cute.
My oldest pet is my dog Maya, and she has spent eight years with us, is a half Siberian dog, had the eyes of two colors, one is brown and the other is light blue, and is very beautiful and playful, and I adopted when she was a puppy very cute.
My other dog is named Misu, she has spent three years with us, since that I was in high school, she is orange and white and is still a puppy very playful and gluttonous, but very tender too.
My cat is a male and we never define a name for it , but my boyfriend call him Rengar, like a character of the an online game that is a feline. He is black and white and is very lovely and affectionate, and he like to interrupt me when I read, but I love him.

My others pets are Suki and Ren, my two hedgehogs that my boyfriend gave me one years ago, and although they are a little sensitive and lonely, are very cute and I love them.

They are all my pets and I love them very much, because they are a good company.

The best concert

Hello everyone! 

Today I will talk about the best concert I've been. 

In general I' ve always to small concerts in some events as anime's events, but in 2014  I went to the concert of one of my favorite band, 30 seconds to Mars with my sister Javiera and my friend Maca. Although the concert was scheduled for May 7, it was changed to October 14 because one of the members became ill, however, it was the best concert of my life although not missed accsidents as that for one moment, we lost my sister among the public. 

That day, we left before school to go to the concert in the Movistar Arenas on O'Higgins Park, the wait was fun, we talked with others, listen to music and ate some snacks. 

I really had fun at the concert, the band played new songs and my favorite songs from his previous albums and one of my favorite parts was when Shannon singing an acoustic song playin guitar. 

And finally, when the concert was going to end, Jared Leto asked a girl to be his translator and promised that the band would return in three years, so I hope to see them again in the future. 

Italy

 Hello everyone!
Is a new semester and I'll begin in my blog again
In this post, I will talk about a beautiful country in Europe that I would like to visit in the future: Italy.
Why Italy? because I think that Italy have many places and landscapes that worth knowing.
I would like to visit  Verona, a romantic city that Shakespeare used to set his famous novel Romeo and Juliet. There is the Juliet's house, where is the statue of the beauty and mythical young and every year in the walls of the house, people leave thousands of love messages.  

Other place that I would like to visit is the city of Venice, the city of canals, I like it´s architecture, the city have mane historical places and I would love to travel through the canals in a gondola

And finally, I would like to visit Rome, because is a city with many historical monuments as the Coliseum or the roman temples, samples of the Ancient roman architecture.

Italy have many beautiful places and I hope to visit them someday.

My blogging Experience

Hello everyone!
This post will the last in this semester and I will talk about my blogging experience.
In general I like to create and write in the blog, it is an interesting experience and a good exercise to improve writing.
I think that with the blog I impove my writing and vocabulary, because with the different topics I had to look and learn some words, but there's always something more to learn.
I enjoyed to write about different topics, especially topics such as My festivity, My favorite photograph, The band I adore and Why this career, because I think that in this blog I could express my opinión about this topics and see what other people think, and also learn a little more to my classmate.
My favorite topic was "my favorite photograph", where I talked about one image of the book "A little Prince", a novel that I adore and enjoy reading.
In a new blogging experience I would like to include other topics such as places to visit, favorite book or game, the best memory, or include a video, talking about some topics in English.
I really enjoyed this experience, but I don’t know if I will continue writing, maybe in the future I will decide write again, but about different and free topics.

My best friend

Hello everyone!

Today I will talk about my best friend.
I think that the friendship is very important, not anyone you can call him friend.
I have few friend, but I can call best friend only two people, my twin sister (who knows me better than anyone and she has been with me all my live) and my cousin Bastián.
I did not know much to my cousin when I was a girl, but when I was in the high school during the last birthday of my grandmother, I started talking to him and to know him, and then he came into my school and turned my classmate. Since then we were friends until today (5 years).
He is my best friend because I feel that I can trust him, I think that he will be there when I need help,  that I can call him in any moment.
He is a great person that I love much and is very important to me, he always has been with me when I need it and one of the best memories that I have with him is when we were in the last year of high school during the celebration of  "18" and our last folk dance (that it was amazing), when we finish to dance I hugged him along with others of our friends, because that moment was asome, we were together and ends a phase of our lives.

Feminist literature and Structuralism

Hello everyone!
Today I will talk about a subject that I enjoyed studying this semester, that is feminist literature and structuralism.
For the class I had to read three texts of different authors such as Simone de Behavior, Gayle Rubin and Sherry Ortner, also I had a test and a teacher came to do a talk about the texts and their relation to structuralism.
The main theme of the talk was the origin of the secondary status of women in society and theories that explain it or not, such as the structuralism and marxism.
I like this subject because I enjoyed reading books such as Second Sex of Simone de Behavior and I think that is an interesting topic that has social relevance because today we still face various social problems such as gender violence, unequal treatment towards women, sexism, etc.

An Expert on your Field

Hello everyone!

Today I will talk about an expert on archeology and one of my teachers in the last semester, Roberto Campbell.
Roberto Campbell is a good and intelligent professional. He is an archaeologist graduate of the university of Chile in 2002.
Currently he  working as a researcher and consultant in archeology; and teacher in the Universidad Católica of Chile. His area of ​​study is southern Chile and focuses on the comparative study of human social organization and its variability and transformations through space and time.
He also has published several studies which realizes various social phenomena that occurred in ancient societies (such as sedentary lifestyle), which serve to see the historical and social development of older communities that inhabited southern Chile.
I decided to talk about him, because as a teacher he taught me other ways of seeing the archeology and the effects, utilities and profits that it could have political, social and historical level. In addition to motivate me more to be an archaeologist, a good archeologist, with consciousness of my work and its impact.

My festivity: Valentine's Day

Hello everyone!

Today I will talk about my favorite festivity: Valentine's Day.
This festivity is celebrated on February 14th, in many countries  around the world.
In some countries known as Valentine's Day and in others as the day of love and friendship.
The origin of this festivity is vague, but the most popular is the story of Roman priest and martyr named Valentine, who was executed on February 14th by order of the Roman Emperor Claudius II in 270 AD by Roman soldiers marry, which was forbidden.
In Chile, this festivity is known as Valentine's Day, being a day where couples (whether boyfriends or husbands) celebrate love and union with one another, but also is celebrated the friendship.
Generally, in Valentine's Day gifts are given to the person you love to declare your love for her/him, which can be flower bouquets, chocolates, teddy bears, romantic dinners or something meaningful for the couple or friends.
I like this festivity because I think that love is a beutiful emotion that deserves to be celebrated and lived by all people.
And although I think love should be expressed and remembered all the days, for me Valentine's day is an excuse to spend the day with my boyfriend or friends and show us how much we love each other.

Hello everyone!
Today I will talk about one of the imagen that I like.
This imagen is a watercolor painting (but I don't know of who is it or who create this picture) and a representation of the famous short novel " A little Prince" of the Saint- Exupéry (one of my favorite children's books).
In the picture appear the little prince with his friend the fox, both sit under the shade of a tree, in a little planet in the space.
I like this picture because represent the novel, especially the part when the little prince meet the fox and this one teacher him the meaning of friendship and give him a secret: "what is essential can only be seen through the heart, not through the eyes", sentence that is the essence of the novel.
Poetic novel, despite of being a children's book has a philosophical theme and profound observations about life and human nature.

The band I adore

Hello!
In this post I will talk  about my favorite band, 30 Seconds to Mars, an American band of alternative rock.
This band was formed by Jared Leto with his older brother Shannon Leto in 1998, in Los Angeles, California, and other member, that changed in the time (now with them it is Tome Milicevic). His first album was 30 seconds to Mars, and later A Beautiful Lie, This is War and (the last for now) Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams.
I like all their songs, but my favorite are A beautiful Lie and The Kill, because The Kill talks about a story which confronts yourself and A beautiful Lie talks about lie to yourself and other, continues a story that you know is finished and only causes pain.
I like 30 Secons to Mars, because their songs have a sense for me, each one talks about a story, experience of life that anybody can live.

My favorite piece of Technology

Hello! 

Today I will talk about my favorite piece of technology, my tablet.

I began to use the tablet when I was  in the last year of the high school. For me it is very important, because from the begening I use the tablet principally like a tool to the school, because it lets me keep documents, texts, pictures and many different things like videos, music, etc. Also, it lets me develop different works such as presentations for the school, now university, or write documents like essays. 

As I can connect to the internet, I can search information, download diverse types of books (these are some of the things that I like the most), my favorite songs and albums, movies, etc.

and with the social networks I can be connected with my family, friends and my boyfriend when I can not see them.    

My uncle gave me the tablet that I have now as gift of graduation when I  finished the high school, and for my life as undergraduate it is very useful and I use it very much, especially to read.             

Why this career?

Since I was a girl, I was mainly interested in the human history. I liked movies about different ages, especially about the past. 

My favourite course in the school was history, I liked it when we  talked  about  ancient civilisations such as Egypt or Mayan, but also ancient people such as Celt or Rapa Nui.

It is for this, that I decided to study Archeology, so when I was in the high school I sought for information about this career, where I could study that in Chile and how the activity develops in the country.

Even though I had other options such as social anthropology, I really wanted to study archeology, so when I had the posivility to apply for the university I applied to the career of Anthropology in the University of Chile, where I could choose the course of archeology.

Now in the university I am happy with my choise, and  I hope to become  a great archeologist and work with patrimony, archeology investigations or  enmarking the archeological sites. 

                                

My autobiography

Hello everyone. Today I will talk about me so that you can get to know me better.
My name is Camila Marambio I am ninetheen years old. I was born in Santiago, Chile.
I am an anthropology student of university of Chile, and I want to study archeology later.
The menbers of my family are, my parents, my twin sister, my little brother and my older brother.
I live with my father and sister, because my parenst are divorced, but we have a good relation.
My hobbies are to play volleyball (my fovourite sport) and read books, especially historical novels of
different ages.
Also, I like animals and I have  two beautiful dogs, one cat and two hedgehog very cute.
So that is a little information about me.

Welcome

Hello!, I am Camila, and this is my new blog.

I am an anthopology student of university of Chile.

In this moment I am begining  a new course of English and I have to confess that I am not good at speaking in English and with listening excercises, but I know a little bit of writing and  I hope that at the end of the semester I can inprove my skills. ;)
